 Rubrics and Assessments
 
We were asked to create an assignment that we may use within the classroom.  After creating the assignment we had to create a rubric that clearly stated our expectations of the student.  It is important to have a well thought out rubric so that all of your students know exactly what you are expecting of them.  Then it is equally as important to explain how you assessed them and what they can do to improve for next time.

CREATE:

For this assignment we were asked to create an assignment that we may teach in our classroom.  A lesson that I would plan on teaching would be “time” to second graders.  The students will be able to tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes using a.m. and p.m.

Today we will begin our lesson by discussing time. It is important to be able to tell time so that we can make it to certain places when we need to. Let’s review how many seconds there are in a minute. There are 60 seconds in a minute. How many minutes are there in an hour? There are 60 minutes in an hour. Let’s review how many hours are on an analog clock. There are 12 hours on an analog clock. Let’s count them together. Students will respond chorally. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. Great job! Now we are going to use this knowledge to tell time on an analog clock.


The students will be given a flip clock template, a bingo clock template, and an analog watch face. Students will practice telling time to the nearest minute with support from a flip clock. Students will work independently telling time with an 80% accuracy.
